A Personal Story: With Me, Moses, and Nehemiah
In 1999, I was in a church service. A guest prophetess was speaking. It was a beautiful service. She ministered in song and then she ministered a message from The Lord. Afterwards, she invited those that wanted or needed prayer to come up. I did not go, because Father taught me early on in my relationship with Him, not to go running up to the altar for prayer every time it is offered. That is not faith, nor is it relationship with Him. From day one, it has always been I hear His voice directly. It has always been part of my purpose and my calling.
She was praying and ministering heavily. The anointing was upon her. She and I made eye contact, and I knew, Father was about to speak to me. And sure enough she made her way to me in the congregation, and began to minister to me. There was much spoken over me, but for the purpose of this message I will only share in part, what was ministered and spoken into me.
“I see angels ministering to you woman of God, angels visiting you and covering you. God is going to use you greatly!… un uh this ain’t no Mickey Mouse Thang woman of God….YOU PAID FOR THIS ANOINTING!!!” The congregation clapped and rejoiced. Not me, in fact my spirit was downcast, because although I knew I had been through much up to that point, I knew I had not gone through even close to what she was ministering to me, I knew that the anointing she was speaking of, I had not even come close to having paid for with my life.
In all humility I say this: over the years I have watched many try to imitate this anointing and gifting that is upon me. And aside from that being a very dangerous thing to do, because you open up spiritual doors that you are not anointed to cast out nor have not the spiritual authority to subdue, these are people’s lives that you are playing with and souls are not to be played with! We will ALL give an account of how we treated and ministered to others, which are God’s people. (You and I created nothing and breathed the Breath of Life into no one.)And that, in and of itself, can cause eternal death in Sheol (Hell). Several chapters in the both the Old and New Testament scriptures speak of this very thing. And trust me, with this anointing we learn the way of true humility. Let me say that again, we learn the way of true humility. And once we do, we realize how great our God is and that we have nothing to do with the power that is upon us other than obedience.
Luke 10:20 King James Version
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Anyhow, I am speaking of the True Apostles and the True Prophets; we pay a heavy price to walk in such heavy mantles. Starting with humility. Most are not willing to pay this price, because you have too much pride, as well as you know how you put your mouth on everyone, so you fear they will gossip and murmur about you the same way you gossip and murmur about others; if you are humbled the way The Lord humbles His true servants.
After all, the church and The Kingdom of God are built on those two mantles, with Christ as the Chief Cornerstone:
Ephesians 2:19-21 New King James Version
Christ Our Cornerstone
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,
You will have some that say Apostles and Prophets were done away with long time ago, and I shake my head in disdain that the enemy is still able to deceive so many. But he is able to do so because so many sit in these dead churches that have no supernatural move of God and no movement of the Five-Fold Gifts and/or people in churches pretending they are moving by Holy Spirit. This usually happens because the leadership is afraid that those gifts working in the assembly will take the attention and the tithes and offerings away from them or just the opposite, they use the Gifts to try to draw in people and grow their church.
But scripturally speaking, those gifts are supposed to be operational in today’s times as a demonstration of the sovereignty of God! It is to show the glory of God!
John 14:12-14 New King James Version
The Answered Prayer
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
Let’s talk about Moses and his calling.
You don’t have to be saved or even “religious” to know the story of Moses. Cecil B. Demille did a fabulous effort of bringing the story of the “Ten Commandments” to the silver screen in 1956. Notwithstanding some scriptural inaccuracies, it gave a fair resemblance to the story so that we get the gist of the story. I am somewhat subjective having read the Bible in its entirety from cover to cover twice so far, once, in its published order, and once from beginning to end in chronological order.
Nonetheless, we know that Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s house. A mansion or castle in modern day, or one could say just very large house for sure with wealth unspeakable. Which is so interesting and with a twist of fate because at the very least an unimaginable irony, because Moses was born of the Jewish people and had very little wealth and very little material wise. Moses had everything he would ever want or need at his beck and call in Pharaoh’s house. And yet he lost it all because he chose the more excellent way, the call that was upon his life.
And as you read the scriptures, you see he went through such a breaking, then a processing, and then a making before becoming the Apostle and Prophet that he was. (Yes, Moses was an Apostle and a Prophet – if you have not studied that through, just continue reading and don’t worry about it until you are ready to learn of the scriptures by studying) And along the way of course there were many including those he was to lead out of Egypt, that talked about him and murmured and even complained, because they felt he, as well as they themselves, should still live where they had with everything they wanted. Some people need material things to “be happy”. That’s another message. Because to be happy is flesh, to be joyful is spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 New King James Version
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness (meekness), self-control. Against such there is no law.
But Yahweh as the Jewish people referred to The Lord, had such a much greater and bigger plan for Moses. So to lose the life of a Pharaoh (king), was something Moses was eventually willing to do for the sake of the burden in his heart to deliver his people and to fulfill the call upon his life.
And you know the rest of the story. But again, reading it in the scriptures in its entirety is far different and much more edifying than watching the movie. Not that watching the movie isn’t a good illustration, because in many ways it is, just more detail and distinction in the scriptures.
Moses walked with Yahweh (The Lord). The intimacy is unparalleled.
Psalm 103:7 New King James Version
7 He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
We see that Moses and The Lord had intimacy. They walked together and Moses knew the very nature of God, while the people only knew what God did. They knew His very actions only. There is a monumental difference. It is one thing to know of The Lord, and an altogether different thing to know Him personally and intimately and to understand His nature. For example, you can know that The Lord will send a flood, but it is more important to know why He will send a flood. Or even more importantly to discern the times and when He will send a flood.
And if He does not give you that discernment, then you don’t have discernment. It’s all about intimacy, that personal relationship with Him.
The Lord heard Aaron and Miriam speaking against Moses. So He visited them with a judgment. But look how He let them know the relationship He had with Moses:
Numbers 12:8 New King James Version
I speak with him face to face,
Even plainly, and not in dark sayings;
And he sees the form of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
To speak against My servant Moses?”
Every true Apostle and true Prophet is going to go through a breaking, then a processing, and then a making and it is going to last as much 20 something years. And yes, I am no exception. I just completed my 20+ years of breaking, processing, and my making. In the beginning it was challenging because although I knew what it was, there were so many watching and observing my life being stripped and chose to judge and gossip and murmur about myself and my family. Perhaps they will still be watching and see us as we receive our manifested blessing of restoration!
I can honestly say after that season of making, being talked about or judged by others that don’t know or understand what is really going doesn’t faze me now, not even a little bit. If it did, that would be flesh, and I am not moved in my flesh. In these mantles you cannot move by flesh but by His Holy Spirit only. In fact, like Moses He often tells me or shows me when it is happening so that I will understand when the judgement comes upon them. Out of compassion I am praying for those that have that talebearing spirit because they are sowing seeds that will spring forth an unfavorable harvest for them. And they don’t know to fear The Lord. Think of it as was the case with Moses when Miriam spoke against Moses. The Lord heard her and was going to kill her with leprosy; it was Moses who reasoned with Father (The Lord) to spare her. And on Moses’ plea request did The Lord spare her life. She was still judged with Leprosy, but for a short period of time.
Psalm 105:15 English Standard Version
15 saying, “Touch not my anointed ones,
do my prophets no harm!”
I have met other true Apostles and true Prophets that have been through this same breaking, processing, and making, and some have written books about it which Father lead me to read early on to prepare me for mine. You see, the very Church of Christ is built on this very foundation. And it is nothing to take lightly or pretend to walk in that anointing when it comes with such a hefty price. A hefty price most are not willing to pay. And sadly many don’t complete their breaking, processing, and their making and never walk in their calling nor their purpose.
We go through rigorous spiritual training that includes walking and living by faith, being humiliated, brokenness, etc. It is designed to subdue the flesh so that Holy Spirit is in charge and we are lead by Him. As we decrease and He increases we are spiritually promoted to a level in the anointing that comes with keen spiritual insight, supernatural authority (deliverance ministry and laying on of hands healing), and supernatural fearlessness, and supernatural utterances including prediction known as prophecy.
Now Beloved… I can say 22 years later, that yes I HAVE PAID FOR THIS ANOINTING WITH MY LIFE. And I have absolutely no regrets. I wouldn’t want to go through it again, but if I had to, I absolutely without hesitation would. I would not trade this gifting and this anointing for anything. Why you may ask? Because I genuinely love souls and I love God’s people. And it is my desire to see all who desire to be set free, be free indeed! Jesus came to set the captives free.
John 8:36 New King James Version
36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Remember Nehemiah in the Old Testament? Nehemiah was a Jewish leader and he agreed to rebuild the Jewish Temple of the Lord. His name in Hebrew means, “Yah Comforts” or “The Lord comforts”. His calling was great because there were those who did not want the temple rebuilt.
Sandballat (in Hebrew means enemy) and Tobiah (in Hebrew means scoffer /ridiculer) were just two of many that tried to hinder the rebuilding of the temple. And they came at Nehemiah with every evil work they could imagine to try to distract or stop Nehemiah from his work for The Lord. In fact they were so angry and indignant that Nehemiah was rebuilding, that they launched an all-out attack against him. In the second chapter of Nehemiah they attempted to intimidate and scorn the Jewish people to stop them and Nehemiah. Lie after lie they told, everyday coming up with something new to try to desecrate Nehemiah’s character and stop him from the work he was doing for The Lord. Even going so far as to tell lies that the king had demanded Nehemiah to stop the building. And the long and short of it is that Nehemiah made it clear that he was doing a work for The Lord and he couldn’t come down. No matter what they did or said, Nehemiah didn’t stop even to respond to their lies and rumors, he didn’t care because he was focused on his calling and doing what he was called to do. His recourse was prayer and of course The Lord was with him and the Jewish people rebuilding the Temple.
Nehemiah continued his work until it was finished. And his enemies were “handled”. It is a salacious story of rumors and lies against Nehemiah and how he being a man of God he prospered in the midst of it all.
You may have been wondering or even praying about your purpose, your calling, or what is your gift? You have probably even prayed about it. Equally as much, you may have been discouraged from walking in your calling for a number of reasons.
Again, I ask how many will miss the mark of the High calling of Jesus Christ because of someone else scoffing at them or they themselves unable to let go of that scoffing and evil ridicule nor let go of those that don’t fit into what The Lord has for you?
Moses left all to serve the Lord. Nehemiah did not care what was being said, he prayed and kept going with what The Lord had tasked him to do.
For some you weren’t ready for your calling. You weren’t ready to forsake all. You were created to soar in the anointing, but there are some weights in the form of people that have to be let go, because if not, they will always hold you down and keep you at their level with that which is not of The Lord.
Hebrews 12:1 Amplified Bible
Jesus, the Example
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [the people commended for their faith ][who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us,
Many cannot handle that or are afraid of what others may think. You cannot fear God and man too.
Matthew 10:27-29 Amplified Bible
27 What I say to you in the dark (privately), tell in the light (publicly); and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops [to many people]. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
For it is important to remember
Matthew 22:14 Amplified Bible
14 For many are called (invited, summoned), but few are chosen.”
And one of my most taught scriptures:
Matthew 7:13-14 New Century Version
The Way to Heaven Is Hard
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. The gate is wide and the road is wide that leads to hell, and many people enter through that gate. 14 But the gate is small and the road is narrow that leads to true life. Only a few people find that road.
Beloved, I close with John 17 the scripture in which we hear Jesus praying to The Father about His people as He is preparing to be crucified. I said His people. Read John 17 and see if you see yourself in that scripture and pay close attention to which one is you. Be honest with yourself, this is between you and God. And your eternal life depends upon it. Are you His or are you in and of the world?
If you are reading this please know that we are praying for you. I am praying for you.
John 17 New Century Version
Jesus Prays for His Followers
17 After Jesus said these things, he looked toward heaven and prayed, “Father, the time has come. Give glory to your Son so that the Son can give glory to you. 2 You gave the Son power over all people so that the Son could give eternal life to all those you gave him. 3 And this is eternal life: that people know you, the only true God, and that they know Jesus Christ, the One you sent. 4 Having finished the work you gave me to do, I brought you glory on earth. 5 And now, Father, give me glory with you; give me the glory I had with you before the world was made.
6 “I showed what you are like to those you gave me from the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have obeyed your teaching. 7 Now they know that everything you gave me comes from you. 8 I gave them the teachings you gave me, and they accepted them. They knew that I truly came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for people in the world but for those you gave me, because they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And my glory is shown through them. 11 I am coming to you; I will not stay in the world any longer. But they are still in the world. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they will be one, just as you and I are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me. I protected them, and only one of them, the one worthy of destruction, was lost so that the Scripture would come true.
13 “I am coming to you now. But I pray these things while I am still in the world so that these followers can have all of my joy in them. 14 I have given them your teaching. And the world has hated them, because they don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to the world. 15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world but to keep them safe from the Evil One. 16 They don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to the world. 17 Make them ready for your service through your truth; your teaching is truth. 18 I have sent them into the world, just as you sent me into the world. 19 For their sake, I am making myself ready to serve so that they can be ready for their service of the truth.
20 “I pray for these followers, but I am also praying for all those who will believe in me because of their teaching. 21 Father, I pray that they can be one. As you are in me and I am in you, I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me. 22 I have given these people the glory that you gave me so that they can be one, just as you and I are one. 23 I will be in them and you will be in me so that they will be completely one. Then the world will know that you sent me and that you loved them just as much as you loved me.
24 “Father, I want these people that you gave me to be with me where I am. I want them to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the world was made. 25 Father, you are the One who is good. The world does not know you, but I know you, and these people know you sent me. 26 I showed them what you are like, and I will show them again. Then they will have the same love that you have for me, and I will live in them.”
If you understand John 17, then you understand why walking in your gifting and your calling is:
1. Personal
2. Serious
3. Rigorous
4. Powerful
5. Sacrificial
It’s way more than praying over your food, saying a few Christian “buzzwords”, having consistent church attendance, and saying you or others are “good” people. It is way more than that!
Luke 9:23 Amplified Bible
23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].
I pray for your salvation and that you will come to know The One True Living God and walk in your calling and your purpose.
