The God I Serve

I was in prayer (prayer simply means conversation) giving The Lord thanks for His goodness and I began to remind Him of The God I serve, in other words, who He is.  Matthew 16:13-20 is the verse of scripture where Peter declared that Jesus is the Messiah, because Jesus asked Peter who do people say Jesus is and even more succinctly, who did Peter say that He is.  Therefore, in keeping with Jesus KNOWING already who He is; and yet still asking Peter who others say He is, I often remind The Lord of Who He is, especially who He is in my life.  Let that marinate if you didn’t quite understand that.  Because it is important that YOU have the revelation of the God YOU serve.

So…anyhow, I am in prayer making confessions and declarations about the God I serve.  When He imparted into my spirit, for me to place emphasis on the God I SERVE.  Whew! That hit me deeply! Let me explain:

You see, we speak of the God we serve with emphasis on Him and who He is and how great He is.  We look to His Deity and His Sovereignty.  But He gave me such a revelation of His Greatness in my life personally, based on MY SERVING Him.

Matthew 25:21

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

1 Corinthians 9:18-19

18 What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.  19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;

Deuteronomy 11:13-14

13 ‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.

Imagine that, how you or I serve the Lord, determines how great He is in our lives!  And as always, I don’t want you to just take my word for it, study the scriptures! See for yourself! Those that walk with the Lord closely and intimately, not succumbing to the evil and the ways of the world, see great and mighty moves of God and have relationship up close and personal with The Creator.  If you are a M.E.C Christian (Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas) and say “grace” over your food, and use a few religious buzz words, but don’t have intimate relationship with the God you serve…then it stands to question, are you really serving Him at all? Do you even know Him?

More often than not, I hear “Maybe the Lord…”, or “It doesn’t take all that, I believe God is a forgiving and loving God, He understands…”, etc.  I cannot warn you enough, the scriptures are clear…It does not work like that, and you cannot humanize The Lord God.  So, what you think or feel, is your finite mind and your finite thinking convincing you that it is ok, when it is not.  You are making excuses that The Lord will excuse your sin.

Isaiah 55:8-9

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Perhaps you desire a closer walk with the Lord?  Maybe you have reached the point where you want to live a better life? Stop now and pray the prayer of salvation.  Get your life in order.  When you leave this life (die), Heaven is not an automatic.  What you do/did on here on Earth, determines your eternity.  Eternity is a long time, especially to be wrong.

Now is the best time ever to start your life anew and right some wrongs.  Jesus shed His blood for each and every one of us while we were yet sinners.

Turn your life over to Him and start by praying this prayer:

It is a prayer of salvation (it is erroneously called the sinner’s prayer). But once you pray and become saved, you are still a sinner; it’s just that now you are a sinner saved by grace. That is why it is called the prayer of salvation.

Father God, I am a sinner, I know I have sinned against you.

I know that I need to be covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ and I need to accept Him as my Lord and Savior. Lord I ask you right now to hear and answer my prayer.

I ask you to forgive me of my sins.

I want to repent and walk in a new way.

I want to receive my inheritance as a joint-heir in the Kingdom

of God and in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I want to be born-again Father God.

I love you and your son Jesus Christ, and I want to have a personal,

intimate relationship with you.  I thank you for hearing and answering my prayer.

In Jesus name I pray.  Amen
