Three Questions, One Answer
1. Are you often misunderstood, and always manage to say the wrong thing?
2. Does it seem nothing ever goes right for you?
3. Have you ever questioned yourself: what am I missing, what is it that I am unable to see about myself that others see about me?
At some point we all have asked ourselves at least one, if not ALL, of these questions. I can say without any doubt that I surely did.
It was when I first accepted Jesus Christ into my life and first got saved. It was for certain, that I couldn’t see myself as one the adversary [Satan and his evil demonic spirits] had blinded into believing a lie. And as a result, I thought I was just fine. Not knowing, I needed to get my backside up there upon The Potter’s Wheel for a COMPLETE spiritual makeover! However, I did note, that it seemed like I always managed to put my foot in my mouth at just about the most worst opportune time! And that of course led to just about everything going wrong in my life and nothing going right in my life.
But what a faithful, and yet merciful God we serve! Before I ever even had the opportunity to ask Him to show me me, He was showing me who I was and what I looked like in His loving eyes.
Isaiah 1:18 King James Version
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
You see, I was dirty, covered in sin and unrighteousness. I was a sinner in need of His saving grace. As a side note, once we accept Christ, we are still sinners, just that now we are sinners saved by His Grace!
Psalm 51:7 New King James Version
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
However, if you can relate to any one, or all, of the three questions asked at the beginning of this blog, you are suffering from the spiritual malaise called pride. No worries, I had a bad case of it as well - and you are in good company. There are so many suffering from it, just go on social media and check out how many self-pictures (a.k.a. - selfies) people post daily…and for some…hourly!
Pride is a sin that The Lord hates!
Proverbs 6:16-19 Amplified Bible
16 These six things the Lord hates;
Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him:
17 A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that creates wicked plans, Feet that run swiftly to evil,
19 A false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths],
And one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.
It is the same sin that got Lucifer cast out of Heaven. Lucifer, forgetting that he too was created by the Most High God, began to get so full of himself and what he believed to be his own abilities, that he determined he was going to be like God!
Isaiah 14:12-15 New King James Version
12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.
Therefore, Beloved friend, to be filled with the sin of pride, is to exalt oneself into a mindset and mentality of believing to be someone or something our Creator, The Lord did not create us to be. Further, to our own demise we begin to believe the lie of who pride told us we were. And next you know, you are blinded by the god of this world, Satan.
2 Corinthians 4:3-5 New King James Version
3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.
So when you are often misunderstood, or manage to say the wrong thing(s), and nothing ever goes “right” for you and you wonder what you are missing, because you are unable to see in yourself what others clearly see in you and working through you; it is because the god [Satan] of this world has blinded you and you now live in what I call a “you-bubble”. The “you-bubble” is a spiritual sphere that surrounds you in literally what you believe is “your world”. And no matter what The Lord tries to speak to you through others, you literally cannot receive it. The god of this world and his demonic forces have oppressed you by overtaking your mind with thoughts that you believe to be your own, but that really originated through demonic influence speaking to you. And just as Lucifer did, you begin to believe in you (yourself), not in a humble and meek way - as the scriptures tell us to be - but in a way in which you believe in yourself more highly than you ought!
Romans 12:3 New King James Version
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Matthew 11:29-30 New King James Version
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
And, once you live anyway other than taking up the yoke [burden] of Christ’s suffering, and learn how to be like Jesus Christ, which is gentle and lowly [humble - to walk in humility], that burden of pride becomes heavy, shameful, and unbearable.
And next you know, destruction comes along and you fall; and you fall hard.
And that same devil that convinced you to believe you were “all that” and more; has now left you broken and needing both healing from your brokenness and all who you broke because your pride caused more than just you to suffer hurt and damage, but also deliverance from the spirit of pride that caused you to be destroyed [in all your pomp and pageantry] as well as fall.
The Lord hates pride, and just like Lucifer fell due to the pride in his heart, so did you due to the pride in your heart.
Now here is what is absolutely insane: those that fall due to pride, and fall hard, and get back up and repeat the same mistake [sin of pride] all over again is absolutely insane.
Beloved, please know this: all that you have and all that you are is not because of you, it is because of The Lord’s mercy and His grace, first and foremost, and yes of course; hard work, or lack thereof, plays a significant role as well.
So let that truth along with The truth of God’s Holy Word, marinate in your heart so that the next time you decide to think more highly of yourself than you ought to or decide to look down your nose at any of His creation, you will choose the path of gentle and lowly. Amen
Blessed Be The Name of The Lord!
