Watch Your Words and the Will of God
In the book of Numbers, chapter 22, is the story of, what you probably know well as the donkey speaks. God uses a donkey to speak to His prophet. And you are correct, it is that story indeed. However, I want to come at it from a different angle.
Just to recap the story: Balak the king of the Moabites, had heard of the Children of Israel, and knew they were coming. He knew, as did everyone in that time, that the Lord was with them, and they were a force not to be reckoned with. They were coming to possess the land. Okay, quick biblical history lesson, The Lord gave the Children of Israel land. The twelve tribes were all assigned land, in a nutshell this is where the genealogies spread out and established their roots so to speak. Understand, the land The Lord gave them was occupied. Yes, I said occupied. But all they had to do was go and fight to possess the land, as they were guaranteed to win their battles. And they did. On occasion, they lost a battle, but that was due to sin and disobedience. (Joshua 7)
Now, you might be thinking “that’s not fair, there were already people on that land and it was theirs.” To which I would answer your thoughts, with the truth of the scriptures:
Psalm 24:1 -The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (NKJV) or in a more modern vernacular; the earth belongs to the Lord, and everything in it—
the world and all its people. (NCV)
In other words, The Lord created the Earth and everything in the Earth; it’s all His. So the fact that it’s yours or that you worked hard for it, or that it was a gift to you, none of that matters, it’s all His and He can do with it what He pleases. And He can make you be a blessing and acquire, or make you to be judged and therefore cursed and to lose. That is why it is better to have a giving heart and not be selfish, haughty, arrogant, or prideful. We are blessed to be a blessing to others, not to acquire and consume it for ourselves. Yes…there is even a scripture for that concept: James 4:2-3 - 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures
Sidenote: This is why this ongoing dispute in Israel over the Gaza strip is futile. The Palestinians will never possess it because the Lord gave it to the Children of Israel (Genesis 15:18-21)
And if, just if you are dumb enough to think you are going to bully your way into something you desire, that The Lord has marked for His use, you are treading a slippery slope you are sure to fall from and fall hard! You cannot, nor will you ever, go against the will of the Lord and win. In fact, you won’t even place in the match.
In Numbers 22, Balak being King, and knowing his kingdom stood not a chance against the Children of Isreal, thought he could and would outsmart the Lord. Dumb thinking on his part. There is stupid and then there is Balak stupid!
Numbers 22:1-6 Then the children of Israel moved, and camped in the plains of Moab on the side of the Jordan across from Jericho.
2 Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. 3 And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel. 4 So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. 5 Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, person has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! 6 Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
He was smart of enough to know his kingdom did not stand a chance, but he was dumb enough to think he could curse God’s people. He felt, because the Children of Israel were moving into the neighborhood, and would eventually take over; he had to get rid of them. Doesn’t this sound vaguely familiar to systemic racism? Of course it does! But that is another teaching, in fact in my prophetic book “Again, Simple Truth: The Exceptional Year 2020: What Needed to be Understood” that is addressed more in-depth, and you definitely want to read it, ignorance is not bliss.
Balak, actually believed he could get a prophet of God to curse God’s people! That is where you just shake your head and say “is this guy serious?! “ Well, now that your appetite is whet, why not pick up a bible and read what happens next. I promise not only is the interesting part about the donkey speaking in the reading, but also what happens to the knucklehead King that tried to curse-for-hire the prophet to curse God’s people.
Point of this story being, it does not matter what your will is, who you like or dislike, who/ what you believe or don’t believe, and what you want or don’t want, trust me when I tell you the truth and depth of God’s will be done here on Earth, is real and you don’t want to find yourself on the other side of His will.
Speaking or going against the will of the Lord is dangerous and may even be blasphemy. After all blasphemy is defined as speaking against God, speaking or acting against holy things of God, to the degree of it being profane towards the things of God. And if one blasphemes against Holy Spirit, you have committed the sin that is unforgivable and therefore unpardonable.
As a servant of the Lord, His Prophet, I have had the very unnerving and very frightening experiences of watching those that spoke against me when I spoke the Word of the Lord, literally wither away and some even to the point of death. Not because of me, but because I am doing His work. I am sent by Him. Therefore, the beef you thought you had with me or any of God’s people doing the will of God, you don’t, you have beef with God. You just don’t realize that fact.
And I don’t say that lightly, I say it to warn you as we see in scripture: Hebrews 10:31 (The Message Bible) 26-31 If we give up and turn our backs on all we’ve learned, all we’ve been given, all the truth we now know, we repudiate Christ’s sacrifice and are left on our own to face the Judgment—and a mighty fierce judgment it will be! If the penalty for breaking the law of Moses is physical death, what do you think will happen if you turn on God’s Son, spit on the sacrifice that made you whole, and insult this most gracious Spirit? This is no light matter. God has warned us that he’ll hold us to account and make us pay. He was quite explicit: “Vengeance is mine, and I won’t overlook a thing” and “God will judge his people.” Nobody’s getting by with anything, believe me. Or in the New King James Version -Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.I don’t speak of those matters as it is nothing I take lightly, nor should you. So please do not ever ask me about it, as I will not speak on such unless I am instructed by my Heavenly Father, The Lord God Almighty. If it is for you to know and to witness, you will. Otherwise, just take concern about your matters and your mouth.
You see Beloveds; here in the United States for example, we have the U.S. Constitutional right by law to the freedom of speech. However, as a child of God, as a Believer in The Kingdom of God, we must be careful how and what we speak. We don’t have the right to use our words loosely and carelessly. For it is written in the scriptures, Proverbs 18:21 Death and Life are in the power of the tongue.” The words we speak have the ability to bring life or to bring death. Sticks and stones may break our bones, but trust that words will hurt us, to the point of death. Don’t believe that nursery rhyme that says “sticks and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. That is a lie that the enemy (Satan and his kingdom) want us to believe. Do not believe that hype. Words can hurt and do great damage. Words can destruct.
We all do well to remember what God has blessed no man can curse, and what God has cursed no man can bless.
Numbers 23:8 “How shall I curse whom God has not cursed?
And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?
Numbers 23:20 Behold, I have received a command to bless;
He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
