Nothing Is Free…It Costs
It all begins with an idea.
The Twelfth chapter of Luke, beginning at the 35th verse, speaks of a parable Jesus had spoken to His disciples. In the parable, our Lord speaks of being ready and the very high cost of not being ready. He likened it to men (servants) waiting for their Master to return the wedding. Further, it says (v. 37): "blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly I say to you the he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them." As you continue reading it, you learn that no matter what hour He comes, He may come before expected, as expected, or even be what some would consider late; it is vital that you be ready, because such is the case as when Jesus returns for His Bride, the Church.
However note, in verse 39, Jesus says, "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into." In other words, Jesus was putting it over to them in such a way that would more so "hit home"; He was saying, "if you knew your home was going to be targeted for burglary, you would make sure you were there to protect it, or at the very least, have great measures, in place to protect it in your absence. Such should be the case as we prepare for the coming our Lord. We cannot afford to risk living a life of sin and risking Jesus' return and we not be ready. There is no dress rehearsal, there is no do over, and there certainly is no "Oh hi, Lord, I am not quite ready can you come back in an hour or so, and I will be ready." So, for those who believe that living a life of sex before marriage (fornication), having sex with a married person that is not your spouse (adultery), homosexual lifestyle, lying lifestyle, being a coward (yes, that is a sin because it lacks faith) [Revelation 21:8], and having not accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior; all of those lifestyles constitute the thief having burglarized your home as mentioned in verse 39, and you not being ready when the Master returns.
Nothing is free. It comes with a cost. To whom much is given, is much is required. And in The Lord requiring much of us, He Himself, gave much first - Jesus Christ; a sacrifice to which our cost, is a sacrifice of our lives to NOT be given over to sin. It is quite simple: we must accept what Christ did for us and ALL that it means, and live as though we have accepted this FREE gift of salvation. Yes, it costs us, but the price has been paid, all we must do, is accept it. You see the scriptures tell us, no man knows the day nor the hour of Jesus Christ return. Are you ready?
