Intentional and Purposeful
Lets say we are planning to all meet in Lebanon, KS. For the purpose of this blog, I chose Lebanon, KS because it is said to be 2.6 miles northwest of the center of the contiguous United States. Therefore, it is just an otherwise random geographical location. Anyhow, lets say you, the readers of this blog post, and myself are planning to join one another on a specific date in Lebanon, KS.
Now, how we all get there will vary. Our destination will be the same, but our travel is what will differ. For example, I reside in the Southeast corner of the United States, so it stands to reason at some point I will be traveling North and slightly West. But another may be traveling from the state of Washington, in which case the likely route would be to head East and Southbound. And those from New Mexico are heading North.
Now, some may choose to drive, take a flight, board a train, or even ride a bike to travel to Lebanon, KS. You get the point.
Further, depending on the travel plans as well as the mode of transportation, the journey will be longer for some than for others. But, we will all arrive in Lebanon, KS , on time and as planned, if we follow the directions, and intentionally make Lebanon, KS our focus and our intention. The purpose is to get to Lebanon, KS to meet and gather.
The message is clear: here on Earth we have a purpose for why we are here. The problem lies in how we achieve our purpose. As saints, we needn’t look at someone else’s mode and method of travel on their journey, it only serves as a means to covet and distract from what your journey is.
We are here. We have a gift, or gifts according to God’s purpose for our lives. Our gifts are intentional according to our calling which is our purpose. Father did not make a mistake in our purpose. It is intentional. (So there goes the whole, you-were-born-in-the-wrong-body argument that the adversary uses to deceive people into believing homosexuality is okay, because The Lord made a mistake. Yes, we love the sinner but hate the sin! We are all sinners, just those of us that have accepted Christ are sinners saved by His Grace!)
Psalm 139:13-18 - 13 You made my whole being; you formed me in my mother’s body. 14 I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well. 15 You saw my bones being formed as I took shape in my mother’s body. When I was put together there, 16 you saw my body as it was formed. All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old. 17 God, your thoughts are precious to me. They are so many! 18 If I could count them, they would be more than all the grains of sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.
In the Book of Jeremiah, Chapter 1, verse 5: “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work. I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Jeremiah the prophet was called. The Lord let him know, ‘I intentionally and purposefully created you and made you to be My prophet. This is the reason you were created.’
And just as He has let Jeremiah know his purpose and His calling, He has let us know as well, that is for those that have chosen to accept His gift of salvation.
Acts 13:36 - 36 “Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.
Beloved, it is important to understand, once you have fulfilled The Lord’s purpose for your life, then can you leave this earth (that is to die) and return to eternity. Understanding, that many die before their time, having not ever fulfilled God’s purpose for their life on this Earth and equally, many have long life and still do not fulfill God’s purpose for their life. It is assured that in either case, you will have lived and died in vain and not have eternal life.
Acts 2:23 - 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate [intentional] plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
Jesus’ purpose on this Earth was to die. However, those that crucified Him were not held guiltless. The Lord’s purpose was carried out, but there was a judgment against those that carried out The Lord’s purpose. (This is a heavy teaching for another time).
Jeremiah 29:11 - 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Job 42:1-3 - Then Job replied to the Lord: 2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
Proverbs 20:5 -The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.
More often then not, Saints (people of God) guess at what their purpose is, and even the more, they are incorrect at what they guess.
And so what we have is a bunch of mixed-up and confused people of God, because they don’t understand long before they were on this earth, long before they were in the womb, and most certainly before they accepted Christ and received their salvation, that they were intentionally created with a specific purpose in the spirit realm!
And that purpose is between you and your Heavenly Father. He may send His true servant, such as an Apostle, or a Prophet, a true Pastor, or His Evangelist, etc. to 'speak into you’ your gift and/or your calling so that you will know your purpose; thereafter it is up to you to seek His face and be taught, trained, and equipped in your gift and your calling to fulfill your purpose.
Please do not look at someone else’s purpose, or how they carryout their purpose, because surely that is their purpose and their gifting, they are equipped for their purpose.
And how do you even know if they are fulfilling their purpose? You may be walking in a ‘copycat spirit’ of someone who isn’t even fulfilling their purpose.
If you don’t know what your purpose is, why would you trust that following or copying someone else’s purpose is God’s plan and purpose for you?
How can you be certain that they are even fulfilling the purpose The Lord has for them?
Does that make natural sense?
Is that even wisdom from above?
The only way to truly know your purpose is to come out from among the world and spend time in His presence. Get to know your Heavenly Father, The One True Living God for yourself. And stop trying to be like the world - the children of darkness. You can’t play saved, then talk, walk, and act like the world.
Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, who; or that in all things God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good—with those who have been called according to his purpose.
Many of you reading this, have chased wealth, popularity, material things, etc. only to find that you lack peace. And you will never have that peace that passes all understanding until you live in God’s purpose for your life.
Our Creator is intentional and purposeful, why not take up your cross and follow Him and learn of His purpose for your life?
