Your Reflection

We all have experienced it.  The copycat, the one who is built solely on the externals.  They are whomever they feel is the latest and greatest trend.  And with social media, it has become easier than ever to achieve the “you” that you want to be, for the moment at least. There are many out there ready to lure you. They cause you to have lust of the eyes. You see, therefore your desire.

They are called influencers.  Those that have achieved unimaginable numbers of “followers”, people that are so impressed with what the influencers have to say, how they think, or even how they look; that they are literally followed or idolized by masses of people.

But what if we call it what it really is: idolatry?  That should make those that love to copy others and follow celebrities and/or social media trends, abhor that they are even committing such sin. It is absolutely, without a doubt, idolatry.

According to Dictionary.com, the word idolatry is defined as

 1.      the religious worship of idols.

2.      excessive or blind adoration, reverence, devotion, etc.

Now we know, a word cannot be defined by using that word or a form of that word in the definition, therefore, lets define the word idol.

Idol, according to Dictionary.com means

1.       an image or other material object representing a deity to which religious worship is addressed.

2.      Bible.

3.      an image of a deity other than God.

4.      the deity itself.

5.      any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration, or devotion: Madame Curie had been her childhood idol.

6.      a mere image or semblance of something, visible but without substance, as a phantom.

7.      a figment of the mind; fantasy.

8.      a false conception or notion; fallacy.

As God’s creation, I speak of our Heavenly Father: El Elohim, Yahweh, Jehovah (Yᵊhōvâ - which is the proper name of the One True God); we are to be influenced by Him and Him alone

Through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved) we are to worship Him and Him alone.  We are to have no other Gods (someone or something that we idolize).

Ask yourself, “Do I spend even close to the time in prayer and fellowship with my Heavenly Father, my Creator, as I do on social media following influencers or just wasting time scrolling? To your own self be true, after all you and you alone must work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Using myself as an example, and please do not ever idolize me. I am a sinner saved by grace.  If you choose to follow me, only follow the Word of God that I teach, not me as a person. I have experienced many, and I do mean many, who try to imitate my gifting and my anointing, my hair, the way I dress, the way I speak, even my fingernail colors and designs. (How crazy is that???) Only to grow tired of it or realize it was not for them.

I assure you, there is a reason and a purpose for EVERYTHING that I do, and I have prayed about it and waited for His guidance before I proceeded.

Seek the Lord for yourself and see what He has for your inward as well as your outward being.

You see Beloved, we are all made in the image and the likeness of God. (Genesis 1:26).  Our image (our outward appearance) as well as our likeness (Our inward being – our soul which is our mind, our will, our intellect, and our emotions), should reflect The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Not another human being.

Just as we look into the mirror and see our reflection, our spirit should reflect that of the us, as God said in

Genesis 1:26; And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

In ALL that we do and ALL that we are, we should reflect The One who made us and created us

Attempting to be like another of mankind, whom The Lord created as well, is as about as idiotic, foolish, and irrational as it comes.

If you don’t believe the truth in that; think about how full of yourself (pride) you get when you achieve or acquire something you saw someone else with and you had to have it, or one of your idols endorses something and because they said it was it, you got it and suddenly you felt more confident, you became arrogant, and filled with pride because you now have it.  But sadly, you tire of it, it becomes outdated, and it cannot fill that void in you.

But instead of turning to your Heavenly Father, your Creator, you turn right back to your influencer, your idols, and see what they have to say and what they have labeled as the latest and the greatest newest new thing.

It’s a vicious cycle that shows no mercy as you are pulled in every direction trying to keep up with the trends, all while feeling that “missing” something in your heart.

The Lord has you and me on His mind always.

And  I can say with absolute truth and absolute certainty, He is always on my mind.  What anyone or everyone else thinks of me, is not my focus nor my business.

It is for this reason; I am at peace.

I am free to reflect the love of God and His glory. I can live in the will of God, because I have made a very conscience choice to live outside of the ways and the will of mankind.

When others look at you, the glory of God and the love of God should reflect back at them. Let the Word of God rule and reign in our hearts so much so, that we are living witness’s that reflect the image and the likeness of our Heavenly Father – The One who created us all.

What is the reflection people see when they look in (at) you? What is the reflection you see when you look in the mirror? Is the reflection - what looks back at you, in either scenario, the image and the likeness of God? Is His image reflecting off you?

If not, no worries, you cannot change your past, but you can redirect your future. If you do not know or have not accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Savior, take a moment to do that now, by praying aloud:

Father God, I am a sinner, I know I have sinned against you.

I know that I need to be covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ and I need to accept Him as my Lord and Savior. Lord I ask you right now to hear and answer my prayer.

I ask you to forgive me of my sins.

I want to repent and walk in a new way.

I want to receive my inheritance as a joint-heir in the Kingdom

of God and in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I want to be born-again Father God.

I love you and your son Jesus Christ, and I want to have a personal,

intimate relationship with you.  I thank you for hearing and answering my prayer.

In Jesus name I pray.  Amen

And if you already know the Lord and have accepted Him, but you are not reflecting His image and His likeness, you are without excuse.

Spend more time with Him, in His Word (the Bible) and in the presence of others of like precious faith; and less time in the world, on social media, following celebrities and influencers, because you and them are on the path that leads to destruction; and like many, you will live and die on that path and spend eternity in Sheol (Hell).

Reflect on your reflection and your relationship with the Father and allow Him to make your reflection shine with the glory of the Lord! Amen!
